Problem Statement

Design a user-friendly and secure mobile app that enables users to easily discover and purchase donuts, while catering to personal preferences and specific dietary requirements.

Design Process
Ideation

Sketches: In order to gauge the number of screens needed for a filtered search and payment page integration, I explored preliminary layout options.
Throughout this stage, I recognized that additional screens would be necessary to accommodate these features.

Defining Core Visual Styles: A key aspect of the project was establishing a strong visual foundation, including defining colour palettes, typography, and iconography. To achieve this, I created a two-part colour palette: a core palette featuring brand and user experience (UX) focused colours, and an extended palette with more vibrant colors geared towards visual design elements, ensuring a cohesive and engaging interface.

User flow: The following user flow diagram highlights the app's functionalities, focusing specifically on the payment journey to maintain alignment with our project's defined scope.

Colour Palette: I embrace the delectable world of jelly-filled donuts with a delightful colour palette, a perfect blend of hues that captures the essence of these sweet treats.

Wireframes: Throughout the design process, our primary objective was to guarantee that the user interface effectively mirrored the intended user flow.
This meant meticulously crafting and identifying crucial screens that would not only represent the overall functionality of the app but also seamlessly guide users through their journey.

Critique with Classmates: During review process, we were are asked to share our current progress. Which included the design system and app progress with our classmates. This provided an opportunity for peer feedback and constructive criticism.
This collaborative approach not only improves individual project outcomes
but also cultivates a supportive learning community where ideas and knowledge are freely exchanged.

Learning & Next Steps

Next Steps: The next phase will focus on refining the app through usability testing, accessibility reviews, and prototype iterations. I’ll expand the design system, collaborate with developers, and integrate analytics to track user behavior. These steps will ensure a more intuitive, user-centered experience while applying the lessons learned throughout this project.

Learning: Through this project, I learned that designing an app involves managing various details and decisions, even for a simple user journey. It is crucial to consider each screen and step, emphasizing both the broader perspective and intricate details.
This experience enhanced my problem-solving abilities and taught me the importance of well-considered decision-making. These learnings will contribute to developing more user-oriented apps in the future.
